Exposed Aggregate Perth
Hard-wearing, low-maintenance decorative concrete for driveways, paths, pool surrounds and outdoor areas right across Perth.
What is exposed aggregate?
Exposed aggregate is concrete with natural stone mixed through it. Once it's laid, the top layer is washed back to show the stone, which leaves a textured, grippy surface that hides dirt and wear well.
It's tougher than pavers, it won't sink or shift, and you won't be pulling weeds out of the joints every winter. Laid and looked after properly, it lasts for decades.

Where it works
Driveways
Old pavers or cracked concrete out, a new exposed aggregate driveway in.
Pool Surrounds
Honed and exposed surrounds, including seamless edges to the water.
Patios & Alfresco
Outdoor living areas that are comfortable underfoot and easy to keep clean.
Paths & Steps
Side paths, front paths and steps with plenty of grip.

Choosing a colour
Most of our exposed jobs use Limecrete mixes, which are made in Perth. Popular picks with our customers include Kajaani White, Coral White, Amber White, Sahara and Quarry Creme.
Colour looks different once it's exposed and sealed, so we'll show you samples and point you to finished jobs in the same mix before you decide.
What does it cost?
It depends on the size of the area, the mix and colour, how much prep and excavation is needed, drainage and access to the site. We give a fixed quote after we've had a look, so the price we quote is the price you pay.

How a job runs
- Site visit and quote. We measure up, talk through finish and colour, and give you a fixed price.
- Prep. Old concrete or pavers removed, levels set, drainage sorted, formwork and reinforcing in.
- Pour and expose. The concrete is laid and the surface washed back at the right time to reveal the stone.
- Cut and seal. Control joints are cut and the surface is sealed once it's cured.
Common questions
Is exposed aggregate slippery?
It has more grip than smooth concrete because the stone sits proud of the surface. The sealer used also affects grip, and we'll recommend one that suits where it's going.
Does exposed aggregate need sealing?
Sealing is recommended. It protects the surface, helps with staining and brings out the colour of the stone. Expect to reseal every few years depending on traffic and sun.
Can you lay it over my old concrete?
Usually the old slab or pavers come out so the new concrete has a proper base. We'll tell you what your site needs when we come out to quote.
Is it better than pavers?
For most driveways and paths, yes. It doesn't sink or move, there are no joints for weeds, and it holds up to cars and Perth summers.
