Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to the things people ask us most.
What's the difference between exposed aggregate and honed concrete?
Both have natural stone through the mix. Exposed aggregate is washed back to show the stone as a textured surface. Honed is ground smooth to show a flat cross-section of the stone.
Which finish is best for a driveway?
Exposed aggregate. It has more grip and hides tyre marks and stains better than honed.
Which finish is best around a pool?
Honed is the popular choice because it's smooth on bare feet, sealed with a non-slip additive. Exposed aggregate works well too if you want more texture.
Is exposed aggregate slippery?
It has more grip than smooth concrete because the stone sits proud of the surface. The sealer also affects grip, and we'll recommend the right one.
Does it need sealing?
Yes, sealing is recommended to protect the surface and bring out the colour. Plan to reseal every few years.
Can you lay over my old concrete or pavers?
Usually they come out so the new concrete has a proper base. We'll tell you what your site needs when we quote.
Who supplies your concrete?
Our main supplier is Limecrete, a Perth-made decorative concrete range.
Do you handle drainage and earthworks?
Yes. We organise earthworks, formwork and drainage as part of the job, so you're only dealing with us.
Where do you work?
Across the Perth metro area, from Yanchep to Rockingham.
How much will my job cost?
It depends on the size, prep, mix, finish, drainage and access. See our pricing page, or get a free fixed quote.
